Asbestos notification
Licensed contractors are required to give Brent Council 14 days notice of work with asbestos insulation, asbestos coating or asbestos insulating board in offices, shops and warehouse.
Brent Council has the right to assess the proposals and inspect the site, either before or during the work. If the work with asbestos is to take place in a factory or public authority building, the notification should be sent to the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).
Asbestos in the home
Building materials containing asbestos were widely used until the 1980s. If your property is more than 20 years old it is possible that it may have been built using asbestos containing materials.
