Carers Week 2009

Brent Council is supporting this year's Carers Week (8-14 June) by organising a week's worth of free activities and events for our borough's carers.

Activities will be taking place across the UK in support of this national event. Brent gets involved every year and supports this hidden army of carers by organising a range of events that give carers the opportunity to take some time out for themselves.

There are around 23,000 carers living in Brent who look after a spouse, child, parent, friend, neighbour or family member.

Carers Week highlights the vital work done by those who provide unpaid care for someone who is ill, frail or disabled. This year, the theme for the week is "Carers... The UK's secret service" and calls for carers to receive greater recognition for the incredible contribution they make to their families and their communities.
