The latest in a series of information evenings to encourage more people to consider becoming foster carers is being held at Willesden Green Library Centre on 18 May.
The event is designed to provide a snapshot of the 350 plus children in the borough that are currently waiting to be fostered and details about how to become a foster carer.
There will be a question and answer session and an opportunity for people to hear first-hand experiences about fostering from those who have successfully been through the process.
Irene Levine, Fostering Assessment Team Manager says: "If you're interested in fostering a child coming along to an information evening is a good starting point as it will give you a chance to find out more about fostering in an informal setting. You can speak to professionals who will be able to help you with the application process and hear first-hand experiences from foster carers themselves."
Our fostering team is particularly keen to meet prospective foster carers for babies and sibling groups of both black and white children and teenagers.
If you have a spare room, the time and energy and care about children, please come along. In return Brent Council offers foster carers 24-hour support and an allowance of up to £480 per week depending on the needs of the child.
The information evening starts at 6.30pm at Willesden Green Library Centre, 95 High Road, Willesden, NW19 2SF. To find out more call 020 8937 4538, email fostering@brent.gov.uk or simply turn up on the night.
Dates of forthcoming information evenings are regularly advertised on the council's website. Visit www.brent.gov.uk/fostering.
