European parliamentary election 4 June 2009

This is the official notice of election for the electoral region of London.

An election is to be held of eight Members to serve in the European Parliament for the London region.

Nomination papers must be delivered to the Regional Returning Officer, London Borough of Lewisham, Town Hall, Catford, SE6 4RU  between the hours of 10am and 4pm on any date after the date of this notice, but no later than 4pm on Thursday, 7 May 2009.

Forms of nomination paper may be obtained from the Regional Returning Officer at the above address.

The deposit for each registered party or individual candidate is £5,000 and can be paid by cash or bankers draft (banks operating in the UK or Gibraltar only) and, with my prior permission, by electronic payment into my account or by credit or debit card.

Applications to be included on the register of electors to be used at this election must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at the London Borough Council in whose area the elector is registered by midnight on 19 May 2009.

Any elector may apply for a postal or proxy vote at this election.

Applications to vote by post or by postal proxy must reach the appropriate Electoral Registration Officer by 5pm on Tuesday 19 May 2009.

Applications to cancel or alter postal and proxy votes, or to change from postal to proxy voting must reach the appropriate Electoral Registration Officer by 5pm on 19 May 2009.

Applications to appoint a proxy must reach the appropriate Electoral Registration Officer by 5pm on Wednesday, 27 May 2009.

A person can apply to vote by proxy on the grounds of disability if the applicant becomes incapacitated after 5pm on Wednesday 27 May 2009.

The application must reach the appropriate Electoral Registration Officer by 5pm on the date of the poll.
