The latest in a series of information evenings to highlight the number of children in Brent in need of adoption is being held on 6 May at the Bridge Park Community Leisure Centre.
The evening will provide frank advice and information on all aspects of adoption, and for anyone who might be considering it, it could be the first step towards changing their own and a child's life forever.
Staff from Brent Council's adoption team will be on hand throughout the evening to answer questions and explain the application process. There will also be an opportunity for people to hear first-hand experiences about adoption from those who have successfully been through it.
Satwinder Sandhu, Adoption Team Manager says: "If you are considering adoption, information evenings like this are a really good way of finding out whether it's for you. They give you the chance to get practical advice about the nuts and bolts of the process itself but they also allow you to hear personal accounts from adoptive parents about how they have found the whole experience."
The council's adoption team is particularly keen to meet prospective adoptive parents for babies and sibling groups of both black and white children and teenagers. In particular there are babies and children who need Somali Muslim parents to ensure they retain their cultural identity and heritage.
The information evening starts at 6.30pm at the Bridge Park Community Leisure Centre, Brentfield, Harrow Road, NW10 0RG. To find out more call 020 8937 4525, email adoption@brent.gov.uk or simply turn up on the night.
