Brent Dance Month is coming

12/11/2009

Calling all choreographers, dance teachers, dance academies and dance studios in Brent.

It will soon be that time when Brent residents get to dust off the dancing shoes and make happy with their feet.

So following the huge success of Brent Dance Month last year, the borough's dance specialists are invited to take a lead part again this coming July.

The 2009 Brent Council dance month programme will be launched at Brent Respect Festival on Sunday 5 July in the Momentum Dance tent, which will provide tasters of the variety of dance that will be available.

Brent Dance Month (BDM) is part of Momentum's initiative to develop dance across West London. It seeks to promote Brent's rich diversity and cultural heritage by promoting dance more widely across the borough.

"This is a wonderful opportunity to get people to take part in a wide range of high quality dance within Brent. This can be for fun, to develop skills, gain an understanding of new dance forms, or just to keep fit," said Brent Council's Festivals Manager Vashti Waite.

"Brent residents who take the taster dance classes, either for free or at low rate, may become converts for life," she said.

To be part of BDM, dance teachers will need to complete and submit an expression of interest form, which can be downloaded from the Brent Dance Month page. Applicants will need to return the form no later than Friday 27 March.
