Brent's Refuse and Recycling collection service are currently suspended due to the inclement weather conditions.
Brent's Street Cleaning service is also suspended and the staff who would normally carry out street cleaning are spreading salt and grit onto the footpaths and crossing areas to make the pavements safer for pedestrians.
Our contractor, Veolia Environmental UK Ltd started gritting the main roads at 1pm on Sunday 1 February and five gritting lorries were continually gritting until 2am in the morning of Monday 2 February. From 4.30am work started to clear the pavements with the road sweeping operatives and at 5am the five gritting lorries returned to gritting the roads. Staff from the refuse and recycling crews are assisting with the spread of grit on the pavements.
Gritting is expected to continue for the rest of the day and the position is continually being assessed using up to date information supplied by Met Office and WSI a specialist weather service contracted by Brent StreetCare.
