Brent schools are struggling to find parents and people from the local community who are willing to become school governors.
Governors are volunteers who give a few hours each month to help their local school offer the best all-round education for its pupils.
They don't get involved in teaching but meet regularly to discuss overall planning and how to spend the school's money.
To find out about becoming a governor, attend the one-off 'Make a difference day' event.
It's a relaxed forum where Steve Acklam, Chief Executive of the School Governors' One-Stop-Shop (SGOSS) will be dispelling myths about the role of governance and answer all your questions about what it involves.
In addition to schools, Brent now has many children's centres, which need representatives from partners, especially the PCT and council.
Whatever your family situation, you do in fact qualify to be a governor and to help at schools or children's centres. Your experience in the sector makes you an even more ideal candidate.
