Message from the Director:
The Children Act 2004 represents the biggest reorganisation of children’s services in England for 30 years. It aims to ensure that children are safe and receiving the proper support at every stage of their development. Brent Council has made big changes to the way that services are delivered so that it can effectively implement the requirements of the Act.
A new Children and Families department has been set up with responsibility for services provided by the council such as children’s social care, education, adoption & fostering and the Youth Offending Team, amongst others. Staff employed to provide these services are now all within this department, which came into being on 4 July 2005.
Our vision is that all children and young people in Brent will grow up in a safe environment which benefits their health, well-being, achievement and resilience. We will support children and young people and their families by ensuring that high quality services are provided which enable them to have access to the best opportunities that life has to offer.
